Today somewhere over North Iran... When flying I always have my camera to hand in case a spectacular view should appear. Be quick, the moments can be fleeting - this was a brief window on the world, in what was an otherwise very long parade of flat clouds. I first learned of the famous Salt Desert of Iran when I was a student 15 years ago, so when I realised that my flight flew directly over this spectacular landscape I booked a window seat and hoped for a clear day. I was not disappointed. From the air the Dasht-e Kavir is a mesmerising landscape of parallel and concentric lines from the erosion of salt domes, on the ground it’s one driest and most inhospitable places on earth. #BBC #EarthOnLocation #Iran #Salt #Aerial #Plane #Geology #Landscape
