Filming for #BBCEarth #EarthOnLocation in the #Sundarbans, #India... this was my last evening and as I watched the sun turn from egg yolk yellow to a deep crimson red, I knew that the sun would not set. It is a strange thing about the Sundarbans in that each evening the suns transit to the horizon is interupted as it dissapears behind a growing mist. During the night this mist envelops all the islands so that by morning you are greeted by a fog so thick that it can take several hours for the rising sun to show itself again. #Sunrise #Sunset #Fishing #Boat #Mangrove #Fog
I was filming with @BamfieldMSC Vancouver Island #Canada for #BBCEarth #EarthOnLocation. After a day filming on the wind-battered islands it was calming to be back at the marine station in time to watch the sun set behind the distant mountains. I was filming in Java... I visited a good friend at an animal rescue centre in Jakarta, and he showed me the latest slow loris that his team had just rescued from the streets. Just a few years ago these tiny primates became internet famous when more than 12 million people watched a YouTube video of one being tickled in a Russian flat. Sadly this sudden popularity fuelled a boom in the illegal international pet trade which has pushed the slow loris closer to extinction. This loris was one of the lucky ones and was soon released into a wild forest reserve far from the city. #EarthOnLocation #BBCEarth #Conservation #Jakarta #Indonesia #Java #Primate #PetTrade #Illegal #Loris
